B11 - 2016 DEC - ALL

Important Recommendation:
Technology of the obvious:
It is easy to read and listen. Your challenge is use what you read and heard quick and right when SPEAKING and WRITING.

To make complete sentences is PRIME.

  1. I feel sick.
  2. I am doing ok.
  3. Someone broke it.
What question can I ask to respond with this sentence?

Recommendations for the Future
  1. Watch situational comedies
    1. 1st time with language in English and subtitles in Spanish.
    2. 2nd time with language in English and subtitles in English.
    3. 3rd time, if you do not get bored, language in English and no subtitles
  2. At the end of each unit:
    1. Check the language summaries with your oxford learner's online. If you cannot make a sentence with the word, you haven’t learned enough.
    2. Check the grammar Notes
  3. Practice by writing for a writing exam!!! Practice by speaking for an oral exam!!! Obvious!!!

She told me her story. I cried quietly. I transformed the pumpkin nearby into a carriage with 2 mice (=pl of mouse), oops sorry, 2 horses. (I transformed the mice into horses , too). Last , I gave cinderella a beautiful astonishing dress……… I told her to return at midnight.

TELLING A STORY (WHICH TENSE?)
Using past
Using present
It’s a story about a tortoise and a hare.
One day, the tortoise challenged the hare for a race. The hare laughed at the tortoise because he was arrogant. He thought that there was no way a tortoise could defeat a hare because a tortoise is very slow, so he accepted.
So then the race started, and the hare felt so confident that he took a nap (a sleep for a moment). The tortoise advanced little by little and got close to the finish line.
It turns out that the hare woke up very late when the tortoise was too close to win.
In the end, the hare couldn’t get to the end on time and lost the race.

TODAY’S OBJECTIVE

  • to give suggestions about MET exam
  • to talk about international festivals by using time expressions

Rationale
Why an International Exam?
Icpna gives, provides its own certification, but nowadays that is not enough. Icpna now gives you the opportunity to take an International Exam, CAMLA, METexam.
Why is it a GREAT benefit?
Having an International certification is valid for university requirements. Nowadays the new University Regulations imposed by the government, in order to graduate, you need to have these kind of certifications.
Conclusions
Take it seriously. Take the exam. You do not lose anything but trying.
If you get a good grade, you can get your certification. It goes directly to your curriculum vitae. Nowadays, people that speak another language, get 30% higher salaries than people who do not.

Tips for the MET Exam
Prepare.
  1. Review your books from b10, b09, b08, etc.
    1. Use oxford learner's online to verify pronunciation
    2. Take a look at the unit summaries for vocabulary and the grammar summaries, too.
    3. Use virtual icpna MyElt
  2. Choose your favorite situational comedy at Netflix or get the seasons at The Blue Flea Market (Polvos Azules)
    1. watch with subtitles in Spanish and the language in English
    2. watch with subtitles in English and the language in English
    3. watch in English language and NO subtitles
  3. Read from the web. Go to the library on the 3rd floor. Use the oxford learners and word reference
